The tax you will pay

New Zealand operates a progressive tax system with your tax assessed according to one or more of the following thresholds:

 Taxable income Tax rate for every $1 of  
 taxable income (NZD$)
 Up to 14,000 12.5 cent
 14,001 – 48,000 21 cents
 48,001 – 70,000       33 cents
 Over 70,000 38 cents
 No declaration 45 cents

 

An additional 1.7% of tax is charged as an ‘ACC Levy’.  This is the cost to fund the Accident Compensation Corporation.
