The things we recommend you tick off your listMany a long summer day can be wiled away in the UK - whether in a beer garden or out and about soaking up some of the many free attractions. So don't fear if you arrive in the summer and the job search is a bit slow. Here is our guide for the top five things to do to pass the time (while not spending loads of pounds). 1. Hanging out in Hyde Park (in fact all the parks) This place really comes alive in the summer with loads of concerts and action in every corner. Listen to the debates at speakers corner or relax by the Serpentine on a deck chair and watch the world go by. 2. Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus With seemingly millions of people filing past Lord Nelson every day this is a great place to people-watch and really understand the magnitude of London. If it's raining (or even if it's not) pop into the National Gallery for a bit of brightening up with van Gogh's sun flowers. 3. Walking the South Bank Starting from Bullers Wharf at the design mesuem and walking all the way back to the London eye, there are a wealth of attractions from free concerts outside the mayors office, the Tate Modern and all the TV studios where you can be part of the studio audience. 4. Going to Greenwich Seeing the prime meridian up at the observatory or the charred reminants of the Cutty Sark, there is much to do down in Greenwich. Take your sneakers because it is a big place. 5. Camden Markets At these heaving markets you can buy anything and everything. Every walk of life is represented in Camden Markets from Goths through to Rastas - it is a wonderful melting pot of culture.
