Relocating is easy with a bit of assistance!

When moving from country to country there is a lot to think about.  We are always working to make the transition as easy as possible for you.

  • Notify the authorities

Fill in a tax return and notify the tax man that you are leaving the country.  You may even be owed a tax rebate!

  • Tell your bank

Inform your bank/credit card companies of a forwarding address - if you have friends in the Gulf we advise you to redirect your post to their address as this will help you set up a bank account/mobile phone when you get there.

  • Copy important documents

Take copies of important documents, both as photocopies and scanned documents - ensure a Justice of the Peace or Lawyer signs your photocopies so they are certified to be a true copy of the original.  It is best to store scanned documents on a roaming email account such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail.

Include your:

- Passport
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- Credit card and bank details
- Medical and dental records
- Academic transcripts
- CV
- References from employers, personal contacts, and where possible landlords

  • Bring 30 passport sized photos

If you are moving to Dubai to live bring lots and lots of passport size photos (at least thirty) of you and any family members.

Initially Dubai can seem like a bureaucratic nightmare with permits and licenses required for absolutely everything to start life and every single application must be accompanied with at least three photos.

  • Pay your bills

Settle any outstanding bills by contacting your utility companies.  You don't want to find out the debt collector has been looking for you in your absence.

  • Subscriptions

Cancel any subscriptions - for example magazines, gym membership.

  • Protect yourself

Arrange any neccessary vaccinations at least six weeks before you leave.

  • Take the safe option

We advise you to organise travel insurance - this offers you greater flexibility on where and how you are medically treated and can cover expenses for emergency repatriation.

  • Have evidence of your valuables

Photograph valuables you will be travelling with - these can be used as evidence for insurance purposes should anything happen to them.

  • Know where you're staying

Ensure you know the address of where you are staying when you arrive - whether this is a hotel address or an address of a friend you will need to state this on an arrival card at the airport.
